About the position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a mid-level UI/UX Front-End Developer to support the United States Space Force (USSF) in Colorado Springs, CO. This role is crucial in developing software solutions for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Cyber Operations Branch, focusing on rapid agile development of defensive cyber solutions. The successful candidate will be part of a high-performing team dedicated to protecting, defending, and responding to cyber threats that affect both ground and space operations. As a UI/UX Front-End Developer, you will engage in development activities that adhere to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), which integrates agile and DevOps principles at scale. Your work will contribute to the creation of deployable defensive cyber solutions, making a significant impact on the mission of the USSF. Your role will involve hands-on coding and troubleshooting using HTML, CSS, and other relevant languages. You will design user interfaces, create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups, and translate business requirements into effective design systems and patterns. A strong portfolio showcasing your professional UI/UX design work will be essential in demonstrating your capabilities in creating user-centered designs based on user feedback and business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software solutions in support of Space Systems Command Cyber Operations Branch.
  • Adhere to Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) principles in development activities.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices to integrate security throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Design UI elements such as input controls, navigational components, and informational components.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to visualize design concepts.
  • Translate requirements into style guides, design systems, and design patterns.
  • Create user-centered designs by understanding business requirements and user feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, software development, or a STEM-related specialty with 6 years of related professional experience; or a Master's degree with 4 years of related professional experience.
  • Experience with applications frameworks such as Sketch, InVision, Visio, HTML, CSS (SCSS), Design Systems, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • SAFe for Teams Certification, Google UX Design, or General Assembly UX Design Immersive certification.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance; Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility is highly desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Relevant DoD and/or industry work experience in Space Systems Command.
  • Experience with the Cyber Operations Branch (SSC/SZYO) program office.
