About the position

Rowan University is seeking an innovative UI/UX Software Analyst to join their Software Development department. This role focuses on designing software interfaces and enhancing user experiences for applications across the university and its medical schools. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to create, document, and implement user-centered designs, ensuring alignment with university branding standards and user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create application designs and interfaces in alignment with Rowan branding standards.
  • Consult with the team responsible for first iterations of all custom software or enhancements to existing software with a strong emphasis on user experience.
  • Work closely with Solution Engineers, Initiative Managers, and Project Managers to understand application requirements and ensure designs meet these requirements.
  • Collaborate with the development team and Software Architects to explain designs and user experience functionalities.
  • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other methods to gather insights on user needs and behaviors.
  • Develop user flows and wireframes to create visual representations of user journeys and interaction patterns.
  • Participate in usability testing and provide feedback to improve user experience.
  • Stay updated on current design trends, especially in higher education, to help set standards for modern user experiences.
  • Design and develop baseline application layouts and design libraries for development teams to utilize for custom software solutions and enhancements.
  • Conduct surveys and studies to stay current with the needs of Rowan clients.

Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, MIS) or 4 years of professional experience.
  • 2 years of professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience designing software for both students and faculty/staff in a higher education environment.
  • Proficient knowledge in application design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
  • Familiarity with Low-Code Application Platforms, HTML, CSS, and programming frameworks/languages (e.g., C#, Django).
  • Proven knowledge in application design principles and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
