About the position

The UI/UX - UX Researcher IV role focuses on delivering technical expertise in human factors and UX research to influence hardware development. The position requires a strong background in cognitive, perceptual, and ergonomic insights, and involves conducting research to inform product design and strategy. The researcher will collaborate with various teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of user needs and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Define and establish cognitive, perceptual, and ergonomic insights and frameworks to understand tradeoffs across business, experience, and technology workstreams.
  • Conduct research using qualitative and some quantitative methods to create actionable insights throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate human factors and test designs and prototypes, including UX evaluation of mature prototypes.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware engineering, industrial design, product management, and other partners to clarify user problem spaces.
  • Communicate and present research findings to diverse audiences, including product teams and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience in user experience, applied research, or product research and development; or a Master's degree with 5+ years; or a PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in user experience and applied research settings.
  • Hands-on experience executing primary research.
  • Ability to translate research findings into strategic narratives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ph.D. in Human Factors or related fields such as cognitive science, HCI, industrial engineering, or perceptual psychology.
  • Experience shipping consumer and wearable devices.
  • Ability to combine qualitative and quantitative user data into cohesive insights.
  • Familiarity with wearable devices and sensing technologies like eye-tracking and EMG.
  • Experience with experimental methodology and inferential statistics.
