About the position

The UI/UX & Web Design Adjunct Professor position at Mt. San Antonio College is a temporary, hourly position designed to fill part-time, as-needed assignments within the Commercial & Entertainment Arts department. The role involves teaching courses such as ARTC 200 - UI/UX and Web Design and ARTC 230 - UI/UX and Web Design II. In these courses, the professor will cover essential topics including UI/UX design principles, accessibility guidelines, wireframing, prototyping, HTML, CSS, responsive web design, mobile app design, JavaScript, and search engine optimization. Responsibilities

  • Teach ARTC 200 - UI/UX and Web Design, covering topics such as UI/UX design principles, accessibility guidelines, wireframes, prototypes, HTML, CSS, and multimedia integration.
  • Teach ARTC 230 - UI/UX and Web Design II, focusing on responsive web design, mobile web and app design, JavaScript, web animation, server-side scripting, databases, SEO, and social media marketing.
  • Develop course materials and lesson plans that align with the curriculum and educational goals of the department.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams, providing timely feedback to support their learning.
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay current with industry trends and advancements in UI/UX and web design.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution and two years of professional experience; or an Associate's degree and six years of professional experience; or a California Community College credential valid for life authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline.
  • Commitment to the community college goals of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests.
  • Personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and InVision.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Active involvement in current UI/UX and web design trends.
  • Participation in professional design organizations and conferences.
  • Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.

Benefits

  • $93 per hour based on lecture hour equivalent.
