About the position

The Web Visual Designer is responsible for creating visual designs and interaction experiences for websites and mobile applications. This role focuses on addressing business, brand, market, and user requirements while ensuring brand consistency and contributing to the overall visual design philosophy. The designer will produce high-quality visual mockups from wireframes and deliver final design assets ready for development. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including business owners, UX designers, UI developers, and engineers, is essential to ensure designs are feasible, scalable, and executed correctly. Additionally, the designer will help establish and improve the UX design and development process continuously.

Responsibilities

  • Create visual designs and interaction experiences for websites and mobile applications.
  • Provide cohesion and inspiration to peers and maintain brand consistency.
  • Produce high-quality visual mockups from wireframes and deliver final design assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are feasible and executed correctly.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of the UX design and development process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in visual, communication, or graphic design (or a related field).
  • 5+ years of experience designing responsive visual interfaces for desktop web, mobile, and tablets.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing skills in designing user interfaces/experiences.
  • Deep appreciation of layout, typography, and color, with a desire for simple, sleek, usable experiences.
  • Proficiency with visual design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Fireworks.
  • Ability to work in teamwork settings, participate in brainstorming sessions, and lead client workshops.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile platform design guidelines.
  • Self-directed and intrinsically motivated.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and provide direction to multiple reports.
  • Skills to balance great design with short deadlines.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with an understanding of how design comps translate to code.
