About the position

The Ultrasound Technologist performs specialized technical tasks using high-frequency sound waves to assist medical personnel in diagnosing anatomical abnormalities. This role involves conducting ultrasound procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining ultrasound equipment, while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ultrasound procedures following department guidelines, ensuring completion within allotted time.
  • Complete clerical duties as required, including utilizing EPIC, Teletracking System, and scheduling software.
  • Perform portable ultrasound exams as needed.
  • Conduct complex diagnostic ultrasound tasks to detect anatomical issues such as masses, abscesses, and stones.
  • Assist physicians with deep abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasounds.
  • Set up medical supplies and prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, explaining steps and ensuring correct positioning.
  • Assess image quality and process images in line with standard procedures.
  • Archive and manage records, ensuring accurate data entry and maintenance of patient charts.
  • Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment, performing routine maintenance and sterilizing instruments.
  • Provide guidance to students, employees, and medical residents as needed.
  • Perform physical duties such as lifting (minimum of 25 lbs.), pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Greet patients upon arrival, ensuring adherence to A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays, with flexibility for occasional overtime.
  • Follow organizational policies on attendance, punctuality, and behavior standards.
  • Adjust care delivery to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
  • Adhere to Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and standards of practice.

Requirements

  • Certifications: ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) and BLS (AHA)
  • Experience: 1 year of clinical experience in general ultrasound (inpatient and outpatient preferred)
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program, with 2 years of Allied Health or college training.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in ultrasound equipment, cross-sectional anatomy, and operation of associated computer systems.
  • Familiarity with infection control, safety procedures, and emergency care protocols.
  • Ongoing CEU credits required.
  • Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing)
  • Highly reliable with availability for scheduled shifts and flexibility to cover shifts if needed.
