About The Position

Rio Grande Urology is looking for a Part-Time Ultrasound Technician to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures. The role requires effective communication skills and a comforting demeanor to ensure patient comfort and care. The technician will be responsible for preparing equipment, explaining procedures, and analyzing data to assist in patient diagnosis.

Requirements

• Graduate from an approved Ultrasound Program.
• CPR certification required.
• At least one (1) year of experience as an Ultrasound Technician.
• Current Sonographer certification required.

Nice To Haves

• Spanish language skills preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Experience in Sonography preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient's medical history and physician's instructions.
• Prepare equipment for procedures.
• Select appropriate equipment settings.
• Explain procedures to patients and record relevant medical history.
• Direct patients to positions that provide the best view for ultrasound.
• Spread gel on the skin to aid sound wave transmission.
• Operate equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves into the patient's body.
• Collect reflected echoes to form images for interpretation by a physician.
• View the screen during scans to identify healthy and unhealthy areas.
• Select images for diagnostic purposes to show to the physician.
• Take measurements, calculate values, and analyze results for preliminary reports.
• Maintain patient records and adjust/maintain equipment.
• Comply with safety, infection control, and quality improvement policies.
