About the position

The Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist II at Houston Methodist is an experienced professional responsible for performing a variety of routine to complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including vascular exams. This role is integral to the patient care team, providing direct assistance to physicians and mentoring less experienced technologists and students. The position emphasizes exceptional patient care, adherence to safety standards, and effective communication within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures including common and special ultrasound exams and vascular ultrasound exams.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and special ultrasound procedures, ensuring sterile techniques are followed.
  • Mentor and guide Ultrasound Technologist I and students, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and family members, providing clear explanations and instructions regarding procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and infection control procedures during imaging procedures.
  • Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges at the time of service delivery.
  • Participate in department initiatives and special projects to promote continual development and improvement.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for required credentials.
  • Three years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • RDMS-OB, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, ARRT-SON, ARRT-VS, RVS, or RVT certification within specified time frames.
  • BLS certification from AHA.
  • Demonstrated skills and competencies necessary to perform assigned job safely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced ultrasound techniques and technologies.
  • Knowledge of hospital/radiology information systems and office software.
