About the position

The UM Operational Budget and Procurement Support role is a critical position that works closely with the Vice President of Operational Budget and Procurement. This position is responsible for contributing to the development and execution of budgeting processes, financial planning, and procurement strategies within the organization. The successful candidate will support the creation of annual operational budgets, monitor financial performance, assist in procurement activities, and ensure compliance with financial policies. In this role, you will assist in gathering and analyzing financial data to facilitate informed budgetary decision-making. You will contribute to financial analyses that identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, preparing regular reports for both internal use and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will assist in procurement activities, which include vendor research, bid evaluation, and providing technical support. Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities and contracts is essential, as is ensuring adherence to financial regulations and organizational policies. Collaboration with various departments is key to gathering budget-related information and ensuring alignment across the organization. Effective communication with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding procurement processes is also a vital part of this role. You will be expected to contribute ideas for optimizing resource allocation and improving operational efficiency, as well as assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining project plans for new budgeting projects and financial and procurement strategies, proactively managing timelines and other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Support the VP in the development and maintenance of annual operational budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial analysis, budget support, or procurement.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with financial data and perform fundamental analyses.
  • Available to undertake frequent and extended travel as required.
