The UM Operational Budget and Procurement Support role is a critical position that works closely with the Vice President of Operational Budget and Procurement. This position is responsible for contributing to the development and execution of budgeting processes, financial planning, and procurement strategies. The individual in this role will support the creation of budgets, monitor financial performance, assist in procurement activities, and ensure compliance with financial policies. In this role, you will support the VP in the development and maintenance of annual operational budgets. This includes gathering and analyzing financial data to facilitate budgetary decision-making and contributing to financial analyses that identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. You will prepare regular reports for both internal use and external stakeholders, ensuring that all financial information is accurate and timely. Additionally, you will assist in procurement activities, which may include vendor research, bid evaluation, and providing technical support. Maintaining accurate records of procurement activities and contracts is essential, as is ensuring adherence to financial regulations and organizational policies. You will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation related to budgets and procurement activities, collaborating with various departments to gather budget-related information, and communicating effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders regarding procurement processes. Your contributions will also include generating ideas for optimizing resource allocation and improving operational efficiency, as well as identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. The role may also involve providing technical support to program operations and developing and maintaining project plans for new budgeting projects, financial and procurement strategies, while proactively managing timelines. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
