About the position

Zurich is seeking an experienced Umbrella & Excess Casualty Senior Underwriter to join our Atlanta office, offering a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow and develop your career as a member of a seasoned and dynamic team. As an Umbrella & Excess Casualty Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting both new and renewal business under limited direction, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels on highly complex accounts. We focus strongly on our customers and are looking for someone with the ability to develop exceptional relationships and a strong market-facing presence. Your responsibilities will include proactively seeking renewal and new account opportunities, completing detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities, and qualifying accounts to align with the organization's appetite while balancing sound business opportunities. You will be expected to make agent/broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose, negotiate terms and conditions, and close deals. Additionally, you will cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account and participate in sales team meetings related to assigned brokers and/or territory. You will also engage proactively in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to the effective date. Updating required systems with details of broker/client visits and account status within the specified time frame will be essential. As the key contact for assigned target accounts, you will develop strong broker and client networks related to the industries underwritten by the business unit and accurately calculate target prices by utilizing underwriting tools appropriately.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing, Finance, Accounting, or Banking area.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims, Underwriting Finance, Accounting, or Banking area.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
