About the position

The CIA's Undergraduate Internship/Co-Op Program offers students the opportunity to work as Cartographers, Editors, Graphic Designers, or Interactive Designers. Interns will support intelligence analysis for the President of the United States and other officials, gaining hands-on experience in a critical field while contributing to national security efforts. This internship is designed for full-time undergraduate students and requires a commitment to complete at least one 90-day tour.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, designing, and producing thematic and reference maps as a Cartographer Intern.
  • Editing, creating, and processing text and graphic products for various dissemination formats as an Editor Intern.
  • Conceptualizing, designing, and producing visual solutions for diverse formats as a Graphic or Interactive Designer Intern.
  • Participating in meetings and projects to become familiar with the Agency and Intelligence Community.

Requirements

  • Full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in Geography, Geo-Science, Graphic or Interactive/UI/UX Design, English, Journalism, or Communications.
  • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale is preferred, with exceptions for extenuating circumstances.
  • Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA, including U.S. citizenship and a background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of industry-standard graphic design, interactive design, or cartographic software.
  • Familiarity with mobile and web production.
