About the position

The Undergraduate Research Intern position under Dr. Ranganathan at the University of North Dakota is a part-time, non-benefited role designed for students pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity. The intern will assist in developing a Local Area Network (LAN) that utilizes the IEEE 1855 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) for synchronous audio measurement across multiple devices. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in network configuration, audio data management, and software development for audio event triangulation.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and configure LAN with PTP-compatible components
  • Configure network devices for PTP synchronization
  • Synchronously record audio across multiple devices
  • Configure routine uploading of audio data from PTP LAN to remote HPC server
  • Develop software for triangulation of audio events

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 1 credit for the employed academic semester
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • Eligibility to work in the US without visa sponsorship
