About the position

The Underground Construction Technician role at Spectrum involves working outdoors to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground infrastructure as part of a major rural broadband expansion initiative. This position is crucial for connecting underserved communities to reliable broadband services, ensuring the performance of Spectrum's fiber optic network. Technicians will work in various weather conditions and terrains, gaining hands-on experience and opportunities for professional growth within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair underground cables and infrastructure.
  • Execute construction projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion.
  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment for tasks such as street cutting, drilling, trenching, and excavating.
  • Collaborate with a team of technicians to complete projects effectively.
  • Adapt to different working environments and conditions.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of OSP underground construction/maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding of outside plant construction standards.
  • Attention to detail and strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Physical ability to dig in various soil types and handle heavy materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License).
  • OSHA certification.
