About the position
The Underground Construction Technician role at Spectrum involves working outdoors to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of cables and infrastructure as part of a major rural broadband expansion initiative. This position is crucial for connecting underserved communities to reliable internet services. Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair underground cables and infrastructure.
- Execute construction projects from start to finish, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Operate heavy machinery and equipment for tasks such as street cutting, drilling, trenching, and excavating.
- Collaborate with a team of technicians to complete projects effectively.
- Adapt to various weather conditions and terrains while performing job duties.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of OSP underground construction/maintenance experience.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Understanding of outside plant construction standards.
- Attention to detail and strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Physical ability to dig in all types of soil and handle tools and equipment.
Nice-to-haves
- Class A CDL (commercial driver's license).
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) certification.
