About the position

The position involves supervising and leading underground construction crews responsible for installing fiber optic and copper communication lines. The role requires planning and coordinating daily work schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while also ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead underground construction crews installing fiber optic and copper communication lines.
• Plan and coordinate daily work schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and utility maps.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
• Operate and oversee heavy equipment such as trenchers, plows, and directional drills.
• Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and utility companies for proper permitting and right-of-way access.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to underground infrastructure, including conduit placement and cable splicing.
• Train and mentor crew members, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of work progress, materials used, and crew hours.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years in underground telecommunications or utility construction, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency in underground construction techniques, including trenching, boring, and fiber optic installation.
• OSHA 10/30, CDL (preferred), or other relevant certifications.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations for underground utility work.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions, lift heavy materials, and operate equipment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
