About the position

As the Underground Foreman, you will work onsite in Houston, TX supporting Texas based projects in the Houston/South Texas areas. You will be responsible for managing the entire underground utilities project construction crew by directing work, reviewing schedules, ensuring the work is completed following plan specifications and planning equipment needs. You will be required to enforce the company's direction, policies, procedures, and safety standards. As the Underground Foreman, you should have experience with underground utility projects.

Responsibilities

  • Execute work plans and schedules in accordance with contract requirements, plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.
  • Provide adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Regularly report project status to supervisors, site engineers and other officials.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a daily log for the job site's operations, reporting to management as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, time sheets and daily management reports.
  • Ensure timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs.
  • Continuously check the work of the crew and adjust the work or plan and schedule as required with notification to project management staff.
  • Assist with various skilled trades and general construction duties as part of the construction crew leader to complete the project at hand.
  • Ensure adherence for field project processes and standard operating procedures among team members.
  • Assist with overseeing work of the project crew, including training and developing crew, providing leadership, and promoting morale and workplace safety.
  • Conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while on the job or representing Brice Civil.
  • Report any incident, situation, or activity that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the Field Civil Superintendent or Site Project Manager.
  • Ensure that projects are executed safely according to contract specifications.
  • Actively support the Company's Health and Safety Program.
  • Stay apprised of on-site compliance and safety audits; suspend or modify work practices as necessary under the direction of the Project Management Team.
  • Verify all safety equipment needed for the project is used.
  • Maintain any required certifications mandatory by law or company policy.
  • Work as a 'team player' with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Civil Construction field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience supervising a construction crew as Foreman or Lead.
  • Experience in storms, water, and sanitary utilities.
  • Valid state driver's license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Highway's Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screening.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of scheduling, material control and unit manhour performance, estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour training completion preferred.
