About the position

The Underground Miner performs a variety of tasks daily to support underground mining operations. Tasks assigned will vary daily, weekly, or monthly basis operational need and will range from simple to complex in nature. Light and heavy equipment operation will be required as part of this position. Final shift and position assignment determinations will be made to fill available openings upon completion of the interview process. Experience and qualifications presented during the interview process will be evaluated for best fit when multiple job openings exist.

Responsibilities

• Participate in operational and safety training
• Perform a pre-operational check on equipment as required by MSHA
• Safely and efficiently operate key pieces of equipment
• Perform cleaning activities and complete routine greasing, oiling, and servicing of machines
• Fill out inspection sheets, timecards, production and other reports as required
• Work independently for the duration of one's shift
• Be alert to any conditions which could pose a safety hazard or result in injury or equipment breakdown or damage, and report or correct such conditions immediately
• Fill out the shift report for all machines operated with all required pertinent information
• Make minor repairs or adjustments to equipment as assigned and assist mechanics in major repairs as directed
• Meet production standards while operating each required machine
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent educational experience
• Must be 18 years of age
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Must be able to apply for an ATF license through Morton Salt
• Able to work independently and as an active member of a team
• Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
• Prior experience with heavy equipment is a positive, but mining equipment experience not required
