About the position

The position at Climax Molybdenum involves working as a semi-skilled employee in an underground molybdenum mining operation. The role requires operating heavy equipment, handling explosives, and performing various construction and maintenance tasks. Responsibilities

• Operate articulated diesel equipment and Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) units in a production setting.
• Transport and handle explosives, including assembling, transporting, and placing them for cave development or secondary oversize blasting.
• Construct concrete forms and operate concrete batching equipment to transport and place concrete using diesel equipment and manual tools.
• Install ground support and manage the distribution of explosives from the magazine.
• Perform inventories, verify requisition paperwork, and issue/receive explosives.
• Maintain roadways and properly place oversized boulders in the mining area.
• Operate hydraulic drills to drill blast holes and install ground support.
• Perform special projects and housekeeping work as required.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months experience in related heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction, mining) with experience operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders or excavators.
• Completion of academic and practical competencies required for the position.
• Ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment based on skills/abilities and safety knowledge.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and qualify for handling explosives clearance from the BATF.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience in heavy industry or operating heavy diesel equipment such as skid steers and off-highway haul trucks.
