About the position

The Senior Business Manager role at Atkinson Construction is a key financial management position responsible for overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and processing for construction projects valued between $20 million and $1 billion. This role serves as a primary liaison between operations, corporate finance, and external parties, ensuring effective communication and coordination. The position offers significant opportunities for career growth through job rotation and hands-on training, requiring candidates to work collaboratively with various professionals while maintaining confidentiality in their duties.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with trade/craft payroll processing, collection of timecards and coding.
  • Process field new hires at the jobsite, including dispatch and safety training.
  • Review Certified Payroll from Subcontractors and manage late submissions.
  • Certify and submit Atkinson certified payroll to the Owner and DIR.
  • Submit and track additional paperwork such as union status letters and tax withholdings.
  • Process Purchase Orders and pay project invoices within 30 days of receipt.
  • Assist with monthly pay application including invoice to Owner and lien waiver tracking.
  • Create, update, and maintain various reports and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Manage document control including scanning and uploading documents.
  • Create billing packages for change order work for reimbursement by Owner.
  • Track insurance certificates and small business participation.
  • Manage general office tasks and order office supplies.
  • Control job site equipment and inventory.
  • Maintain relationships with Suppliers, Subcontractors, and Clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of administration/accounting experience in the heavy civil construction industry, preferably with underground/tunneling.
  • Experience on large scale underground/tunneling construction projects is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in billing, document control, and purchasing.
  • Commitment to data accuracy and timely processing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Experience with Textura, SAP, LCP Tracker, or Coupa is a plus.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.

  • Experience in underground construction projects.
  • Familiarity with project finance related areas.
