About the position

The Underground Utility Laborer position at Arreis Construction Group involves working in civil contracting, specifically focusing on the installation and maintenance of underground utilities such as water, sewer, and storm drain systems. The role requires physical labor, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols while performing various tasks related to pipe laying and trench preparation.

Responsibilities

• Able to accept and use clear and concise directions to complete work assignments
• Selecting size and type of pipe, fittings, valves, and couplings
• Assemble and install a variety of pipe, including PVC, ductile iron, and concrete
• Connect pipes using threaded, gasketed or cemented joints and hand tools
• Utilizing shores and potholing techniques for safety purposes
• Utilizing pipe laser to ensure that pipe is installed on grade
• Test pipe system for leaks
• Able to meet deadlines and follow up to ensure quality results
• Prepare trenches to receive pipe, sand, gravel, etc
• Position flexibility, as required to complete the job
• Digging holes or drainage ditches using shovels and/or picks
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while on the jobsite
• Accurately count 'take off' items as they are delivered, as well as ensuring the delivery is correct
• Follow plans to ensure job completeness and positive contractor relations
• Work with Inspectors, Engineers, and General Contractors when necessary, to resolve issues
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers with other duties as required
• Responsibility in reporting to work on a consistent and timely basis
• Possess a reliable source of transportation

Requirements

• Experience in underground water, sewer, and storm drain utilities
• Ability to lay pipe for storm, sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains
• Reliable transportation
• Valid ID to work in the United States
