About the position

The Underground Utility Locator position at Vannguard Utility Partners involves outdoor work where individuals are responsible for locating underground utilities to prevent damages and ensure safety during excavation, landscaping, and construction activities. The role requires self-motivation, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, with training provided for the right candidates.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocates.
• Utilize provided mapping tools and locating equipment to locate underground utilities including electric, gas, and communication lines.
• Indicate utility locations using paint and flags, and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or authorities.
• Respond to after-hours emergency call-outs as per the established rotation schedule.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license in applicable state of employment.
• Computer skills with at least 1 year of experience (preferred).
• Experience in utility locating for at least 1 year (preferred).
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.
