We are currently seeking an Underwriter Associate to join our team in Stamford, CT. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your underwriting career in the dynamic E&S market. The Underwriter Associate will participate in our industry-recognized training program, which is designed to equip you with the necessary skills to navigate a wide array of underwriting and marketing functions. You will gain valuable knowledge in client relationship management and technical underwriting skills. With the support of your team, manager, and mentor, you will develop key underwriting skills, utilizing proprietary tools and external resources to analyze, evaluate, and set terms and pricing for complex exposures. This role also involves networking corporately, allowing you to leverage the company's substantial resources to provide a best-in-class response to our valued clients. Through a combination of classroom learning and on-the-job experiences, you will progress toward the Underwriter role, with opportunities to work on live accounts, develop your own client relationships, and enhance your understanding of the insurance industry. Each of our offices serves a multi-state region, providing opportunities for travel to client visits, industry networking events, and educational seminars. This hybrid role is set to begin training in the summer of 2025, making it an ideal time to start your career with us.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the industry-recognized training program to learn underwriting and marketing functions.
  • Develop key underwriting skills using proprietary tools and external resources.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and set terms and pricing for complex exposures.
  • Manage client relationships and provide best-in-class responses to clients.
  • Network corporately to leverage company resources for client service.
  • Work on live accounts and develop personal client relationships.
  • Attend client visits, industry networking events, and educational seminars.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate college degree in Business, Marketing, Liberal Arts, or Risk Management.
  • Prior intern experience and/or professional experience is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic team player and self-starter.
