About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriter in the Unsecured Lending Operations as part of Credit Services. The role involves reviewing, analyzing, approving, and underwriting individual consumer requests and products while adhering to company and industry guidelines. The Underwriter will interact with customers regarding credit card applications and decisions, ensuring compliance and accuracy in credit files.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, approve, and underwrite routine individual consumer requests and products.
• Make and receive calls from existing card customers about line increases or from new customers requesting a Wells Fargo credit card.
• Review credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, financial statements, or other supporting documentation.
• Assist with calculations and preparation of reports for review.
• Respond to customer inquiries and credit decisions.
• Ensure credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards.
• Contact customers and partners to gather information for decision-making.
• Present recommendations for resolving situations and exercise independent judgment.
• Provide information to team, managers, and customers related to inquiries.
• Assist with resolution to executive office complaints.
• Conduct re-evaluations/appeals and second-level reviews.
• Prevent first-party fraud and conduct tax review analysis.

Requirements

• 2+ years of Underwriting experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Credit card underwriting and/or Personal Lending underwriting experience.
• Home Equity experience.
• Manual, judgmental, or non-conforming underwriting experience.
• 6+ months training or leadership experience.
• 1+ year of customer call center experience.
