About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Underwriter in the Unsecured Lending Operations as part of Credit Services. The role involves reviewing, analyzing, approving, and underwriting individual consumer requests and products while adhering to company and industry guidelines. The Underwriter will interact with customers, handle credit applications, and ensure compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, approve, and underwrite routine individual consumer requests and products.
• Make and receive calls from existing card customers about line increases or from new customers requesting credit cards.
• Review credit applications, credit bureau information, collateral valuation, tax returns, and financial statements to recommend or approve requests.
• Assist with calculations and preparation of reports for review.
• Respond to customer inquiries and credit decisions.
• Ensure credit files are current, complete, and compliant with company standards.
• Contact customers and partners to gather information for decision-making and explain credit decisions.
• Present recommendations for resolving situations and exercise independent judgment.
• Provide information to team, managers, and customers related to inquiries.
• Load balancing and cross-functional training.
• Assist with resolution to executive office complaints.
• Conduct re-evaluations and appeals.
• Perform second level reviews and first party fraud prevention.
• Conduct tax review analysis.

Requirements

• 2+ years of underwriting, loan processing, originations, or closing experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.

Nice-to-haves

• Credit card underwriting and/or Personal Lending underwriting experience.
• Home Equity experience.
• Manual, judgmental, or non-conforming underwriting experience.
• 6+ months training or leadership experience.
• 1+ year of customer call center experience.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
