About the position

The Underwriter - Cyber Risks position at Beazley Management Limited involves underwriting a Cyber & Technology account within the US Cyber Risks team. As an exempt position, the underwriter will be responsible for developing and underwriting a profitable portfolio of Cyber & Technology business, structuring tailor-made solutions, and managing innovation in non-insurance service offerings. The underwriter will also monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios to ensure long-term profitability at the account level, evaluate appropriate risk premiums, and supervise assistants to ensure compliance with underwriting policies. In addition to underwriting responsibilities, the role includes client management, where the underwriter will advise and assist clients on insurance and risk matters, fostering positive relationships to understand both client and Beazley’s needs. The underwriter will leverage networking opportunities to develop standardized underwriting policies and best practices, working collaboratively with peers to maximize business opportunities and profitability. Responsibilities

  • Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Cyber & Technology business as part of the US Cyber Risks team.
  • Structure tailor-made solutions by considering underwriting parameters and policies to win new business and retain existing.
  • Manage innovation and development of non-insurance service offerings to insureds and others.
  • Monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures to ensure long-term profitability.
  • Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions, and capital exposure.
  • Monitor peer underwriters to ensure profitability and efficient administration of the Cyber & Technology account.
  • Supervise assistants to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy.
  • Comply with Beazley's underwriting control standards for business written through Lloyd's and US subsidiaries.
  • Develop a good working relationship with claims managers on this class of business.
  • Advise, assist, and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and maintain good business relationships with brokers.
  • Leverage networking opportunities to develop standardized underwriting policy and best practices within Beazley.
  • Work with peers to maximize business opportunities and profitability within the department.
