About the position

The Underwriter for the E&S Property team at Westfield Insurance is responsible for managing a complex portfolio of business, ensuring profitability and growth while adhering to underwriting guidelines. This role involves marketing and servicing existing and potential clients, as well as overseeing the underwriting quality standards of the team. The position requires a proactive approach to developing strategies for business growth and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and agencies.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite a complex book of business to meet profitability and Gross Written Premium goals.
• Manage and grow the overall portfolio of business while implementing proper underwriting discipline and guidelines.
• Market and service existing and potential clients effectively.
• Train and develop staff within the underwriting team.
• Ensure appropriate file documentation is maintained relating to final underwriting decisions.
• Develop and execute strategies to generate profitable business growth.
• Collaborate with branch, peers, and E&S Property management on new business and retention opportunities.
• Lead agency analysis and planning to enhance business relationships.
• Gather competitive information to assist in product development recommendations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of high-level E&S Property underwriting experience.
• Wholesale experience is a must; Middle Market experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as required.
