About the position

The Underwriter position is part of the Priority Accounts (PA) Team, focusing on renewals and enforcing business opportunities to enhance technology skills. This role involves collaboration with sales teams to negotiate rates, ensuring profitability, and developing underwriting skills while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Handle renewal ratings independently by building formulas and necessary picks using Short Term Disability (STD).
• Establish solid relationships with internal and external business partners, negotiating prices and benefit options with the sales team and brokers.
• Actively participate in project work and special assignments.
• Ensure data integrity reports are completed promptly.
• Demonstrate understanding of pricing elements including risk factors, manual rates, risk classification, pricing targets, and reinsurance.
• Work with pricing tools such as STD, Administrative Service Offerings (ASO), Leave Management, AMT Tool, and SAADD tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong interpersonal and business communication skills.
• 2+ years of Group Benefits Underwriting or related experience preferred.
• Solid MS Office knowledge, particularly in Microsoft Excel (formulas, sorting, v-lookups, pivot tables).
• Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, analytical, and research skills.
