About the position

The Underwriter I - Environmental position at RLI involves underwriting new or renewal individual accounts under supervision. Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new or renewal individual accounts under supervision.
  • Analyze, evaluate, accept, decline, rate, quote, and bind submissions with high premium or risk exposure.
  • Build relationships with agents, reinsurers, and contacts.
  • Review complex submissions, account losses, pricing models, and profitable premiums.
  • Assist in the approval, issuance, or change requests for policies.
  • Participate in special projects or other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, risk management, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to use analytical methods in underwriting processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for internal and external contacts.
  • Proficiency in software for summarizing and analyzing large data sets.
  • Understanding of risk operations and underwriting analysis.

Nice-to-haves
