As a Commercial Underwriter within PNC's Corporate & Institutional Banking Group, you will be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will work autonomously and exercise exception and elevated approval authority. You will prepare offerings for all types of transactions at any level of complexity or manage a portfolio as assigned. Your interactions will include both internal and external customers, where you will provide recommendations for credit structuring. As a subject matter expert for certain asset classes, you may also lead the department on special projects or assignments. Additionally, you will coach, mentor, and assist others on best practices and processes. Using independent judgment to identify risks and mitigants, you will prepare offerings and/or scorecards, such as risk ratings, by analyzing credit, collateral strength, and financial worthiness of loan/transaction parties. If relevant, you will perform ongoing credit risk management for your assigned portfolio. You will also coach and/or review the work of other underwriters and fill in for the manager as required. Your responsibilities will include contacting internal/external customers and other parties as appropriate to gather information and clarify any inconsistent, incorrect, or missing information. You will perform relevant pre-approval and post-approval activities, identify and confirm all external regulatory requirements, and ensure that internal policies and procedures are followed. You will make recommendations on credit decisions or make credit decisions directly, as appropriate.

Requirements

  • University/college degree with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Specific certifications may be required; in lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
