About the position

The Underwriter - Safeguard position at Beazley involves planning and executing business development and relationship management activities to support the growth of the Safeguard product line. The role is responsible for underwriting a profitable portfolio of business while enhancing the product's reputation in the market. The Underwriter will work closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams to ensure effective communication and service delivery, ultimately contributing to the company's business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain product-specific business development plans for Safeguard.
  • Educate the broker market on Safeguard products to create demand and highlight competitive differentiation.
  • Raise Beazley's profile within the broker community to strengthen relationships.
  • Deliver engaging broker education sessions to deepen product knowledge and brand affinity.
  • Track metrics around broker engagements and share feedback with stakeholders.
  • Engage in regular meetings with brokers and act as a contact point for queries and education.
  • Participate in conferences and events to increase exposure of Safeguard to target markets.
  • Advise and assist clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure satisfaction.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients to understand their needs and Beazley's offerings.
  • Maintain awareness of Beazley's product range and introduce other products to clients as opportunities arise.
  • Underwrite a profitable portfolio of Safeguard business in support of business plans.
  • Monitor premiums, costs, and claims ratios to ensure long-term profitability.
  • Evaluate risk premiums considering various factors to ensure profitability.
  • Comply with Beazley's underwriting control standards for business written through various channels.
  • Develop relationships with Claims Managers and service providers.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree education.
  • Effective relationship management skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Strong business development and sales skills.
  • Accurate and numerate with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks to meet sales targets.
  • General commercial and financial knowledge.
  • Proven sales results and client service experience.
  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, processes, and practices.
  • Extensive experience in the insurance industry, ideally in underwriting, broking, or sales roles.
