About the position

The Underwriter position at New Heights Insurance Solutions involves analyzing insurance applications, determining coverage amounts and premiums, evaluating clients' risk levels, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines. This full-time remote role is part of a growing property and casualty insurance wholesaler that focuses on commercial construction risks.

Responsibilities

• Analyze applications and related documents to assess the risk involved in insuring an individual or entity.
• Review policy terms and conditions, ensuring they align with company standards and regulations.
• Utilize statistical data and/or risk assessment software to make informed decisions on coverage.
• Liaise with agents, brokers, and clients to gather information and clarify details about applications.
• Approve, modify, or decline insurance applications based on risk evaluation.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and rationale for future reference.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and changes in underwriting guidelines.
• Work closely with claims adjusters, actuaries, and other professionals to refine risk assessment processes.
• Generate reports on underwriting activities and trends for management review.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in underwriting.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and risk assessment abilities.
• Knowledge of insurance policies, regulations, and underwriting principles.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Property casualty license.

Nice-to-haves

• Relevant certification such as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) is a plus.
• College or Associates degree preferred.
