About the position

Texas Security General Insurance Agency is seeking a Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. The Underwriter will be responsible for quoting new and renewal business in a timely, efficient, friendly, and accurate manner, while also assisting with the growth of revenues. This role is crucial in ensuring the production and profitability results of the new and renewal business segment within our commercial department. In this position, the Underwriter will process new and renewal P&C business efficiently to grow revenues and maintain retention and profitability. The incumbent will underwrite new business by reviewing applications for acceptability, requesting additional information when necessary, and making decisions to accept or reject risks in accordance with company guidelines. For renewal business, the Underwriter will review the insured's file, agency experience, nature and frequency of losses, and prior carrier loss experience to make informed decisions. Additionally, the Underwriter will develop productive and profitable relationships with agents, meet established goals, and deliver timely customer service in all areas. Maintaining a positive working relationship with the Marketing Team is essential, and the Underwriter may also assist in training other personnel as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Process new and renewal P&C business in a timely and efficient manner to grow revenues and maintain retention and profitability.
  • Underwrite new business by reviewing applications for acceptability and making decisions to accept or reject risks according to company guidelines.
  • Underwrite renewal business by reviewing insured's files, agency experience, and prior carrier loss experience.
  • Develop productive and profitable relationships with agents.
  • Meet established goals and deliver timely customer service in all areas.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with the Marketing Team on a continuous basis.
  • Assist in training of other personnel as directed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of insurance industry experience.
  • Ability to obtain Texas P&C license within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or 10 years of successful industry experience may substitute.
