About the position

The Surety Underwriting Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the underwriting team by assisting with business processing and service goals for producer partners. This position involves direct collaboration with underwriters to help achieve premium production goals, provide support to agents and brokers, and manage specialty program needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for national underwriting teams, assisting with duties in and around the underwriting process.
  • Assist sales regions with marketing and sales efforts.
  • Support key agents and brokers with specialty programs, ensuring ease of business transactions.
  • Create and issue new and renewal bond documents, ensuring systems of record are properly updated.
  • Assist with bond term transactions such as endorsements, riders, cancels, and broker of record updates.
  • Research and resolve billing and account discrepancies.
  • Assist with underwriting file maintenance and audit support needs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to key systems and workflows within the Surety Department.
  • Exercise limited lines of authority to assist with underwriting new and renewal accounts.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree preferred; high school education or equivalent required.
  • More than 4 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in Surety, Insurance, or Financial Services.
  • Ability to interact professionally and work well in a high-performance team environment.
  • Effective communication skills across all mediums including phone, email, and in person.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while performing quality work.
  • Capability to develop and maintain procedures and multi-task effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Surety, Insurance, or Financial Services preferred.
