About the position

The Underwriting Intern position at BITCO Corporation is designed for students pursuing careers in commercial insurance or business-related fields. This summer internship program offers educational and professional opportunities, allowing interns to gain hands-on experience in corporate insurance functions and the specialty marketplace. Interns will work closely with professionals, participate in networking events, and receive mentorship to develop essential skills for their future careers.

Responsibilities

• Assist business units with work assigned to them, including project work and coverage of day-to-day activities.
• Perform duties of entry-level insurance professionals.
• Conduct research and/or other work for assigned projects.
• Perform department administrative and support duties as needed.
• Create, review, and/or analyze department reports and data.
• Participate in initiatives to improve workflows and processes.
• Review and update department procedures as needed.
• Actively participate in summer internship program events, such as lunch and learns, training, and networking.
• Develop business knowledge and acumen through interactions and shadowing with other professionals.
• Attend regular department or business unit meetings.
• Complete required training.
• Create and deliver presentations.
• Other tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be working toward a Risk Management, Insurance, or Business focused degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with the proven desire to learn and gain experience.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to follow instruction and follow through on tasks.
• Time management skills, with ability to work on multiple projects and rotate through departments or projects as assigned.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer programs.
• Must be dependable and available to work for the duration of the internship program.
