About The Position
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated insurance professional to join our fleet underwriting team as an Underwriting Manager. This individual will be responsible for underwriting DMC Insurance's full suite of insurance products while maintaining an assigned book of transportation business. The Underwriting Manager will also manage and mentor a team of Underwriters, Associate Underwriters, and Underwriting Assistants to ensure adherence to DMC's underwriting standards. This role includes conducting monthly and annual performance evaluations of direct reports, auditing the timeliness, quality, and quantity of work, and ensuring that departmental expectations are met. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. They will demonstrate strong analytical and investigative skills, a comprehensive understanding of the commercial insurance process, and related regulatory and compliance issues. A commitment to serving customers with a best-in-class, value-driven insurance product is essential. The candidate should have the depth of experience and superior analytical skills necessary to conduct detailed loss analyses, understand an insured's total cost of risk, analyze public data and telematics information, and gain a thorough understanding of each insured's operations. This understanding is crucial for profitably growing DMC's book of business and building long-term partnerships with customers. Additionally, the Underwriting Manager will contribute to DMC's unique culture, which is built on enthusiasm, entrepreneurship, integrity, communication, proactive problem-solving, and a genuine passion for helping customers and brokers.
