About the position

Crum & Forster (C&F) is seeking a highly motivated Underwriting Operations Business Analyst to join our Transportation and Sharing Economy Operations team. This role is pivotal in enhancing our digital platforms and improving operational efficiencies within the underwriting process. The successful candidate will be a problem solver who thrives in a dynamic environment, utilizing technology to drive business growth and streamline processes. The Business Analyst will work closely with digital, underwriting, and operations teams to develop innovative solutions that address business challenges and improve workflows. This position requires a solid understanding of insurance workflows and systems, particularly in the areas of Auto, General Liability, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business. In this role, you will be responsible for effectively communicating project health and timelines to senior leadership, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of work status, roadblocks, and proposed solutions. You will gather and document backlog items clearly to support the development and implementation of solutions to business problems. Additionally, you will create, manage, and prioritize the backlog to maximize business value, coordinate testing and quality assurance activities, and ensure system functionality. Your collaboration with digital teams will be crucial in ensuring timely and accurate releases to production. The Business Analyst will also respond to user-reported issues, gaining a full understanding of each problem, investigating, and following through to resolution while providing status updates. Documenting processes, including creating Visio cross-functional workflows and step-by-step guides, will be an essential part of your responsibilities. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, possesses exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate the health and status of projects to senior leadership, including work status, roadblocks, and proposed solutions.
  • Gather and document backlog items in a clear and concise manner to support the development and implementation of solutions.
  • Create, manage, and prioritize the backlog to maximize business value.
  • Coordinate testing and quality assurance activities to ensure system functionality.
  • Participate in testing features and collaborate with digital teams to ensure timely and accurate releases to production.
  • Respond to user-reported issues, investigate, and follow through to resolution while providing status updates.
  • Collaborate closely with digital, underwriting, and operations teams to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Document processes, including Visio cross-functional workflows and step-by-step guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of related working experience in underwriting operations, particularly in Auto, General Liability, and Excess/Umbrella lines of business preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a proven record of delivering projects successfully and timely.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience operating within a diverse and global team across multiple locations and time zones.
  • Willingness to learn from new experiences and situations.
  • Skilled at communicating and presenting to a varied audience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira is preferred.
