About the position

The Underwriting Systems Analyst serves as a liaison between internal business units and third-party vendors, focusing on enhancing software development and improving interdepartmental communication. This role involves documenting system needs, training staff on system changes, and assisting in the research and development of new programs to support the underwriting process.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a single point of contact for third-party vendors and business units regarding business process improvements and system changes.
  • Maintain an issues list of defects, changes, and enhancements related to third-party software.
  • Stay updated on third-party software updates and provide timely communication and training to internal business units.
  • Research and recommend efficiencies and technical enhancements based on end-user needs.
  • Lead and facilitate Business Process sessions, create business unit requirements, and execute test plans.
  • Review departmental workflows and processes for workflow improvements.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of insurance company experience in property and casualty insurance.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial or personal lines products and underwriting preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines based on end-user needs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Advanced computer skills and strong systems knowledge.
  • Ability to oversee the full life cycle of a project; PMP Certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with third-party software systems in the insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with business process improvement methodologies.
