About the position

As a Unified Communications Specialist at GDIT, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our unified communications platform, with a primary focus on the migration and adoption of Microsoft Teams. This position is integral to our transformative journey, where you will lead and support various communication services to optimize our business strategy and advance our mission. Your expertise will be crucial in solving some of our clients' most significant challenges, ensuring that our communications systems are efficient, reliable, and aligned with business needs. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Microsoft Teams environments, which includes configuration, customization, and integration with other systems. You will provide technical expertise and support for various communication platforms such as Skype for Business, Jabber, Cisco CMS, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems. Your efforts will ensure seamless intercommunication between these platforms, enhancing collaboration across the organization. Collaboration is key in this position; you will work closely with IT teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scopes, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives. You will also conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure the reliability and performance of unified communications systems. Documentation is another critical aspect of your role, as you will develop and maintain system configurations, processes, and procedures. Additionally, you will train end-users on the effective use of unified communications tools and platforms, monitor system performance, analyze trends, and implement necessary optimizations and upgrades. Staying current with industry trends and technologies related to unified communications will be essential, as you will be expected to recommend improvements or enhancements to our systems. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration and adoption of Microsoft Teams as the primary unified communications platform.
  • Design, implement, and manage Microsoft Teams environments, including configuration, customization, and integration with other systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for Skype for Business, Jabber, Cisco CMS, VTC, Oracle SBCs, and other communication services.
  • Ensure seamless intercommunication between various communication platforms and services.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scopes, and deliver solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting to ensure the reliability and performance of unified communications systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Train end-users on the effective use of unified communications tools and platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and implement optimizations and upgrades as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies related to unified communications and recommend improvements or enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree.
  • 8+ years of related experience in unified communications.
  • Experience with Skype for Business, Jabber, Cisco CMS, VTC systems, Oracle SBCs, and other unified communications technologies.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Teams administration, including voice and video integration, channels, chat, and collaboration tools.
  • Proven experience as a Unified Communications Specialist or similar role, with a focus on Microsoft Teams migration and administration.
  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI w/Poly.
