About the position
As a CBRE Union Chief Engineer, you will oversee engineering operations, manage vendors and subcontractors, and ensure the maintenance and repair of building systems. This role is crucial for providing technical support and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage operations and assign work orders.
- Provide technical and procedural training to coworkers and subcontractors.
- Consult with clients to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize business interruptions.
- Formulate and implement a preventive maintenance program for building machinery and systems.
- Monitor building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure optimal operation.
- Oversee and inspect the work performed by engineering staff.
- Confirm that work is complete and client space is in prime working condition.
- Respond to emergency situations and summon additional assistance as needed.
- Apply advanced knowledge and techniques to create innovative solutions.
- Negotiate with senior management, customers, regulators, or vendors to influence strategic decisions.
- Drive direction and resource allocation for programs, projects, or services.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 8-10 years of job-related experience.
- Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting/carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs or more.
- Multi-dimensional, conceptual, and innovative thinking skills.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Expert organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset.
