The athletic trainer will employ appropriate assessment outcome measures to determine the effectiveness of the outreach program and make decisions regarding the return to play of athletes and the active population. The trainer will perform clinical injury evaluations and assessments of patients' levels of function, following standardized clinical practices in diagnostic reasoning and medical decision-making. They will determine appropriate therapeutic treatments, provide rehabilitation and reconditioning strategies, and implement treatment program objectives with realistic goals for patients. The outreach athletic trainer will maintain daily records of treatment logs, injury reports, and medical inventory management, ensuring compliance with clinic standards. They will also assist in planning and organizing departmental policies, ensuring that an Emergency Action Plan is in place for each venue, and will mentor students enrolled in University-based athletic training education programs. The role requires excellent leadership qualities, decision-making skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including athletes, coaches, and healthcare professionals.
