About the position

The Union Data Center HVAC Engineer/ICT Service Delivery Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and corrective repairs in a data center environment. This role involves working on critical facilities equipment and IT systems, ensuring the operational efficiency of the data center while supporting clients in maximizing their digital infrastructure. The position requires a blend of technical skills in both electrical and mechanical systems, as well as IT services, to maintain and enhance the data center's performance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hardware installations and cable installations, including troubleshooting and testing.
  • Prepare and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy in received items.
  • Provide remote hands support for various IT tasks, including power cycles and hardware upgrades.
  • Grant site access to vendors and ensure compliance with site standards.
  • Conduct daily housekeeping and inspections of data halls, recording and reporting findings.
  • Support Service Management processes by managing service requests and incidents.
  • Ensure safety practices are followed by preparing Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
  • Perform daily inspections of Mechanical & Engineering systems and technical equipment.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems and respond to alarms as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associates degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in computer science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Accredited training in the installation of copper and fiber structured cabling systems is preferred.
  • Previous experience using Remedy, DCIM tools, and BMS systems.
  • Strong background in HVAC or Electrical systems is preferred.

  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and standby activities.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and apply knowledge as it emerges.
  • Understanding of fault diagnostic techniques and use of test equipment.
