About the position

Aston Carter is seeking a Union Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong performing publicly-traded company. This role is ideal for payroll professionals who have expertise in the union space and/or have experience in a high-volume, fast-paced shared services environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reporting of payroll data to unions for all collectively bargained operating companies within the Segment. This position requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and other union-related requirements, as well as collaborating with union and fund representatives and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues. The Union Payroll Specialist will also be tasked with developing and maintaining reports and metrics related to union reporting, assisting with union-related audits and inquiries, and supporting other members of the shared service team and other departments as needed. The role demands a hands-on approach, with the candidate expected to interact with over 200 unions across various companies within the shared service. Manual payroll processing experience is essential, along with intermediate Excel skills, particularly in Vlookups and Pivot Tables, which are critical for filtering through the thousands of employees under the company's umbrella. This is a hybrid role requiring one day in the office per month in Hackensack, NJ, with working hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of payroll data to unions for all collectively bargained operating companies within the Segment

Requirements

  • 3+ years of union payroll experience
  • Hands-on interaction with unions and union representatives to resolve payroll issues
  • Manual payroll processing experience
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including Vlookups and Pivot Tables
