In this role, the Union Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of both union and non-union weekly payrolls, which includes managing payroll for hourly and salaried employees. The specialist will document and maintain payroll procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency in payroll operations. Additionally, the role involves researching and resolving payroll and payroll tax-related issues, which is critical for maintaining accurate records and compliance with applicable laws. The Union Payroll Specialist will also handle monthly and quarterly internal reporting, as well as prepare ad-hoc reports as needed. This includes preparing accruals and reconciling monthly and annual payroll activity. The position requires assisting with quarterly and year-end processing, which is essential for accurate financial reporting. Furthermore, the role includes light accounting work, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card reconciliations, and providing ad-hoc reporting and assistance for the finance department. Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurately processing of union and non-union weekly payrolls, including hourly and salaried employees
  • Documenting and maintaining payroll procedures
  • Researching and resolving payroll and payroll tax-related issues
  • Handling monthly and quarterly internal reporting, as well as ad-hoc reports
  • Preparing accruals and reconciling monthly and annual activity for payroll
  • Assisting with quarterly and year-end processing
  • Handling light accounting work which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card reconciliations and ad-hoc reporting/assistance for the finance department

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with emphasis in business or accounting preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Union payroll experience a must
  • Proficiency with Payroll and HRIS software
  • Deep understanding of multistate payrolls and wage laws
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Advanced MS Excel (pivots, v-look ups, advanced formulas)
  • High level of discretion, able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately
