The Unisys OS 2200 Database Administrator (DBA) position at Node.Digital involves providing comprehensive database administration, design, and development support within a dynamic and fast-paced environment, specifically for a Federal Government Agency. The selected candidate will be responsible for collaborating with development teams to modify and tune both new and existing database access interfaces, as well as analyzing database performance as required. This role requires a strong focus on client needs and effective teamwork, as the DBA will support the operations and maintenance of non-production databases while also providing secondary support to production database personnel. The operating environment consists of multiple Unisys Dorado 8590 partitions, with the majority of applications utilizing DMS 2200 databases and a few smaller applications using RDMS 2200. The DBA will be tasked with modifying existing schemas, subschemas, and RDMS tables, maintaining and executing UCOB applications, and programming, planning, designing, developing, analyzing, testing, and resolving application problems using the databases. Knowledge of database backup, restore, and recovery capabilities is essential for this role. Daily responsibilities include employing technologies to support application development and routine maintenance of Unisys databases, troubleshooting operational and performance problems, and working with management to develop database strategies that align with agency needs. The DBA will also be responsible for answering questions regarding the installation, operation, configuration, customization, and usage of database-related software products, as well as identifying and solving application and system problems on a 24x7 basis. Additionally, the DBA will monitor performance, ensure completion of operational processes, and prepare and coordinate the implementation of technical documentation. Training needs for others may also be identified and conducted as appropriate, and the DBA may participate in or lead defined project activities while initiating process improvements.
