About the position

The Unit Assistant at CHOC provides essential clerical, receptionist, and concierge support to the inpatient unit, charge nurse, and staff. This role is crucial in ensuring effective communication and assistance with patient and family needs, while delivering exceptional customer service in a pediatric healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and receptionist support to the inpatient unit and nursing staff.
  • Assist with patient and family needs by effectively communicating and collaborating with nursing staff.
  • Greet and assist all staff, patients, family members, and visitors with courtesy and respect.
  • Prioritize assigned tasks and meet expectations for completion of roles.

Requirements

  • Previous administrative work experience is required.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required.
  • Ability to communicate positively and professionally with others.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and respond courteously in crisis situations.
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve, and organize workload effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred.
