About the position

The position is focused on customer development, specifically working with young individuals aged 16 to 21 through the Youthworks Private Sector program. The role involves assisting participants with retention skills, coordinating placements, and providing follow-up support. Job Coaches will act as liaisons between the Youthworks program and employers, ensuring a positive work experience for participants and addressing any inquiries from both sides.

Responsibilities

  • Track and input Job Posting Employer Applications into the Youthworks system.
  • Maintain an employer site ledger for worksite number assignment and approval.
  • Answer and screen incoming calls in a professional manner and direct calls to the appropriate person or transfer to the correct staff.
  • Support the Youthworks Private Sector Business Coordinator and the Office Support Specialist in daily functions and activities.
  • Operate various office equipment including multi-line telephone system, fax machine, copiers, scanner, shredder, and laptop/desktop computer.
  • Provide accurate information to the public regarding Youthworks and MOED programs and/or refer inquiries to the appropriate source.
  • Use the YW System to answer participant, worksite, and staff inquiries.
  • Conduct presentations with youth to ensure work readiness and life skills training has been completed.
  • Research requested information and/or issues with resolution follow-up for worksites and youth.
  • Support the Youthworks Private Sector in the electronic generation and collection of pay cards and charm cards, along with tracking tools to ensure proper distribution and collection of required items.
  • Create transmittals, placement, and worksite reports when needed.
  • Create and organize materials for staff and worksite trainings.
  • Manage and support the attendance and presentation schedule for the Youthworks Academy.
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of invoice requests based on the Job Posting Application and correspondence from the applicable employer.
  • Complete timesheet training with employers via virtual or in-person correspondence.
  • Assist in the delivery, preparation, and coordination of Youthworks Private Sector job readiness and Youthworks Academy workshops with the youth either virtually or in-person.
  • Maintain temporary staff files including payroll, time sheets, and employee expense reports.
  • Assist in conducting presentations to young people during the Youthworks Academy and Job Readiness workshop sessions.
  • Organize, track verification appointments and documentation.
  • Assist with Youth On-Line Presentation through YouTube, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter).
  • Perform other related work assignments as directed.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a fiscal or agency payroll clerk or comparable business college course work.
  • Must be capable of completing computer data entry and using search functions with database search function for youth and worksites.
  • Advanced beginner skills in MS Office Products: Word, Excel, and Google Doc.
  • Proficiency in various virtual communications platforms such as Webex, Zoom, Google Meets, and Microsoft Teams.
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
