The Unit Coordinator position at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center is a specialized role that focuses on providing essential administrative support within patient units. The Unit Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, greeting all patients and assisting with new patient orientation to the unit. This position requires a high level of organization and communication skills, as the Unit Coordinator will be responsible for managing various clerical duties that contribute to the smooth operation of the unit. In this role, the Unit Coordinator will answer telephone calls and direct them appropriately, ensuring timely communication within the unit. They will also be responsible for starting and maintaining patient records with the utmost confidentiality and care. Assisting with patient admissions and discharge procedures is a key responsibility, as well as conducting thorough inventory and documentation of patient personal belongings. The Unit Coordinator will file, fax, and photocopy documents as needed, serving as a resource for staff and other disciplines, and acting as a liaison for the unit. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the unit's operations. Overall, the Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in the healthcare team, ensuring that administrative tasks are handled efficiently, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience as an Administrative Assistant or Unit Clerk preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred
  • Valid TX Driver's License
  • CPR certification within the first week of orientation
  • CPI certification within the first week of orientation
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with patients, families, employees, and management
  • Responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates willingness to cooperate with others
  • Maintains annual training and competencies
  • Proficient in documentation organization and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and office equipment
  • Effective decision making and problem solving
