About the position

The Unit Manager for the Baltimore-Washington General Adult Unit is responsible for the 24-hour operational management of the unit, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patient care. This role involves managing budgets, staffing strategies, and responding to changes in patient acuity and census. The Unit Manager will also utilize clinical expertise in direct patient care and staff development while promoting effective team-building and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour operational management of the unit.
• Manage expense budget(s) of assigned clinical programs.
• Maintain clinical environment and staffing strategy to meet or exceed budgeted census.
• Respond to changes in patient acuity and census, making appropriate adjustments.
• Utilize clinical expertise in direct patient care and consultative activities.
• Participate in marketing activities to promote team-building and customer relations.
• Supervise nursing, social work, rehabilitation services, and support staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing program.
• At least 3 years of progressively more responsible inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland.
• Individuals without a bachelor's degree may be considered if they have completed a diploma nursing program and have at least 5 years of progressively more responsible inpatient psychiatric nursing experience.
