About the position

The Unit Manager is responsible for leading the Argo Unit processes and personnel to safely and cost-effectively execute operational strategies that align with site and divisional goals. This role involves managing environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, directing production activities, and driving continuous improvement efforts to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Argo Unit Department in all aspects of EHS, ensuring compliance with environmental reporting requirements and timely incident investigations.
  • Direct Unit assets and personnel to reliably execute production activities in support of the business operating plan.
  • Monitor plant output and communicate plan deviations to site leadership.
  • Drive operations and maintenance activities to meet Unit KPIs including Safety, Quality, Cost, Production, Energy Conservation, and Site Sustainability.
  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate, and recommend capital expenditures and process changes to improve business efficiencies.
  • Prioritize maintenance needs and optimize staffing and utilization throughout the plant.
  • Ensure raw materials are processed to maximize business benefits and meet product quality and quantity needs.
  • Identify and drive execution of Unit Continuous Improvement efforts in support of Unit and site KPIs.
  • Implement and maintain cost awareness and control programs to meet financial goals.
  • Coordinate activities with other plants and company functional groups to meet overall goals and strategies.
  • Manage the hourly workforce in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and Plant Rules.
  • Support performance management activities and site development efforts for salaried staff.
  • Foster an atmosphere of operator accountability, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus significant experience in operations, including management of hourly workforce, or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working in a corn wet mill.
  • Knowledge of company and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures in GMP, quality, and safety.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
